My sister had it worse than I did because there just wasn't a lot of records of family names in my parent's memories or photo albums and there wasn't any Internet or other outside source. Mom was more than 50% deaf at that time, so telephoning relatives for info wasn't an option either.
Dad believed all school homework was women's work, so he didn't get involved either.
My sister didn't have a very completed family tree, but pulled a "B" for her effort and how pretty she made her tree.
When it was my turn, those same conditions were there but mom decided "What the heck. Time to fill in the blanks."
She added a Peter to every family.
She said "Every family needs a good peter."
I got an "A"
Sister Margaret Virgin Mary was impressed. Me thinks she had some unresolved issues.
