New To Me June: Bokeh! Bokeh!

Wed May 31, 2017 10:48 pm

Creating bokehs (blurred light effects) on different colored backgrounds, different layer opacities, and/or with different brush colors opens a whole new world of creativity. It's simple, versatile and easily changeable.

1. Start with a 12x12 300 resolution document.

2. Darker colors produce brighter results so I started by filling my background layer with black.

3. Create a new layer and name it :Bokeh

4. We're going to use our Brush palette with different settings.

8. And add a check mark to the Smoothing option too.

9. Make sure your Bokeh layer is active and with a bright color (I used red), click or drag your brush around your document.

Don't like It? You can start with a clean layer or just click again over the areas you want to change. You can add additional layers and blend them or turn off the ones you don't want and use the one(s) you want.

10. Adjust the opacity of the Bokeh layer to suit your taste.

Here's how mine turned out using 45% opacity on the Bokeh layer:

There are many options you can change for different effects. Experiment and post your results in this challenge so we can give it some love!

This was fun. I did two layers of the bokeh because I liked how colorful this turned out. :D
