New To Me Bonus: Shadow Removal

Sat Jun 10, 2017 7:30 pm

Many kit elements in my stash already have shadows added to them. A wonderful time saver but what if you need to remove it?

Here's a quick fix that works on many simple elements. No guarantee but if it works it takes just a few seconds.

Let's start with a simple leaf:

Next grab your Magic Wand tool in Photoshop.

Change the settings like this:

Click very close to the element then press Delete on the keyboard. Sometimes it takes multiple clicks depending on the shape of the element.

Save this element as a new .png file so that your original stays as intended.

To check if you got all the shadow, add a small fx shadow:

If the stroke appears only around the element and is not jagged, you're good to go!
